With Labor Day just around the corner, we find ourselves coming to the end of another great summer in Chicago. And as fall creeps upon us, there are a few things we should keep in mind to keep our plumbing systems running in tip top shape.
Check Your Sewer Line
One important thing that should be done is to check your sewer line for roots. As the trees have grown throughout the summer their roots extend down, sometimes damaging sewer lines. If you’ve noticed your yard has been excessively wet, especially in the dry weather, your sewer line may be leaking. This a serious problem that should be taken care of immediately.
Inspect Your Appliances
Another good idea at the end of summer is to check to make sure your appliances, such as your washing machines and dish washers, are running correctly. Summer usually brings forth more dirty clothes and with it more louds of laundry. So if you notice a small leak, or something of the sort, give Chicagoland Plumbing a call, and we’ll be sure to make the repair for you.
Check Your Hose Bibs
Finally, be sure to check you hose bibs. From watering the garden, to having fun on the slip and slide hose bibs see a lot of action during the summer time. Excessive usage can eventually cause damage to the hose bib. If you do notice problems with your hose bib, be sure to have it take care of sooner than later. Because the longer a problem is left, the more damage that can occur.
